Somewhere along a Colorado roadside, locoweed blooms purple against the dust — overlooked by most, beloved by Laurie. She has always seen what others rush past. Thirty years in a classroom taught her that the quiet, humble things carry the most meaning, and when she finally walked into her studio full-time, she brought that conviction with her. This piece is its purest expression: a plant dismissed as a weed, rendered with the tenderness of a botanical illustrator and the boldness of someone who has nothing left to prove. The background is a palimpsest of a life well-read and well-traveled. Sheet music drifts beneath the blooms like an old melody half-remembered. A vintage map in crimson traces roads no longer driven. Text fragments surface and submerge — 'The wide world is all about you,' reads one — as if the collage itself is whispering encouragement.
